What is the difference between automatic weighing instruments and non-automatic weighing instruments?

The difference between the two is that the general non-automatic weighing apparatus (NAWI) requires operator intervention during the weighing process, such as depositing or removing the load from the load receptor to perform measurements and results. However, it is not always easy to determine which requirements an instrument satisfies from the above brief definition. In these cases, the following definitions of Non-Automatic Weighing Instrument (NAWI) or Automatic Weighing Instrument (AWI) apply when interpreting the problem, as defined in the EU Directive 90/384/EEEC and the Measuring Instruments Directive 2004/22/EC (or as recommended in relation to OIML).
